Cinema-Photography Faculty Spotlight, Jyotsna Kapur
The 2008 economic crash was the impetus for the latest book from Jyotsna Kapur, associate professor in Cinema and Photography. Neoliberalism and Global Cinema: Capital, Culture, and Marxist Critiquewas co-edited by Kapur and Keith B. Wagner.
“It [economic crash] finally seemed to indicate that capitalism was in a serious crisis,” said Kapur. “People started to say neoliberalism was dead; Alan Greenspan admitted that ‘mistakes’ were made. But the point of this book is to show neoliberalism cannot die automatically by itself and that its human consequences are long-reaching.”
